U.S. women's national team midfielder Lindsey Horan will not travel to the Netherlands for the team's Nov. 27 friendly against the Dutch after testing positive for COVID-19, the U.S. Soccer Federation confirmed in a statement Wednesday. - Stream ESPN FC Daily on ESPN+ (U.S. only) U.S. Soccer said that while Horan's test was part of the USWNT's pre-trip testing, no other players have tested positive up to this point. Horan is "currently doing well and is observing the appropriate quarantine protocols," according to the federation. Jaelin Howell, 20, will take Horan's spot in the lineup after helping lead Florida State to an ACC Soccer Championship victory. The match, which will be held in the Dutch city of Breda, is the first for the U.S. since it won the SheBelieves Cup in March. The pandemic-dictated layoff was the longest for the national team in the Women's World Cup era. As with other professional and international soccer teams traveling to the country, the U.S. received an exemption from quarantine from the Netherlands. As part of the protocol, all parties have to be tested for COVID-19 "before traveling, upon arrival and every two days thereafter."
