Muirfield to host 2007 Senior British Open

MUIRFIELD, Scotland -- Nick Faldo has had some of his
greatest golfing success at Muirfield. He will have a first
chance for senior tour success here in two years' time.

The 2007 Senior British Open Championship will be staged at
Muirfield, the Royal Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews
announced Wednesday.

Faldo won the 1987 and 1992 British Opens at Muirfield, and he
will turn 50 the week before the 2007 Senior British Open,
which will be held from July 26-29 that year.

Seve Ballesteros, who turns 50 in April 2007, is eligible to make his debut as well.

"The R&A are delighted that The Senior British Open Championship will be played at Muirfield for the first time in 2007 and hope that many of the past Open Champions who have won there will return again and support the Championship," David Hill, Director of Championships for The R&A, said.

The major is co-sanctioned between the RA, the European Seniors
Tour and the U.S. Champions Tour.
