IRVING, Texas -- Nearly 350 top prospects from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and beyond competed at the Dallas Nike Football Training Camp at the Dallas Cowboys practice field.
And while there were more than 100 recruits holding offers in attendance who delivered top performances, only 24 could be named to the first All-Nike Camp team of the spring.
Note: Selections are based upon camp performance as well as past and projected on-field performance. Athletes are in the Class of 2013 unless otherwise noted.
TOP PERFORMER
DE Torrodney Prevot, 6-3, 206, Alief Taylor (Houston)
Prevot, who already earned an invite to The Opening three weeks prior at the Houston Nike Combine, still made the four-hour trip north on Sunday to compete. The explosive edge-rusher looked as agile as a wide receiver moving through drills and then proceeded to blow by all he faced in 1-on-1s to earn MVP of a tremendously deep and talented defensive line group.
TOP UNDERCLASSMAN
DL Solomon Thomas ('14), 6-3, 259, Coppell (Texas)
The sky is the limit for Thomas, who has a big frame and showed super feet on Sunday in drills. He has the ability to redirect and won with a couple of good inside moves during 1-on-1s. Thomas had 70 tackles and 10 sacks as a sophomore last fall and should be a major prospect at this time next year.
OFFENSE
QB: J.T. Barrett, 6-1, 220, Rider (Wichita Falls, Texas)
Breakdown: Athletic prospect really improved in passing drills, and his confidence allowed him to flash big-time arm strength and accuracy and a quick release.
QB: DeVante Kincade, 5-11.5, 174, Skyline (Dallas)
Breakdown: Kincade was the top performer at Saturday's Elite 11 and showed the same stellar consistency Sunday.
QB: Tyrone Swoopes, 6-4.5, 224, Whitewright (Texas)
Breakdown: The Texas commit continued to show marked improvement taking drops and throwing from the pocket and earned an Elite 11 invite in the process.
RB: Bryan Driskell, 5-7.5, 175, Boyd (McKinney, Texas)
Breakdown: Sturdy, shifty back excelled all day in drills; ran for 2,072 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior.
WR: Eldridge Massington, 6-2.5, 195, West Mesquite (Mesquite, Texas)
Breakdown: Can go up and get it like very few and catches the ball very naturally. Has close to 20 scholarship offers.
WR: Brian O'Bannon, 5-8, 146, Horn (Mesquite, Texas)
Breakdown: Quick and speedy slot receiver made plays all day to earn MVP at a stacked position.
WR: Jake Oliver, 6-3.5, 206, Jesuit (Dallas)
Breakdown: Texas pledge is a great route runner for his size; snagged 108 passes for 1,637 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior.
WR: Ra'Shaad Samples, 5-11, 170, Skyline (Dallas)
Breakdown: Samples was having an MVP type of day before suffering an ankle injury late in the camp. Has 33 scholarship offers after catching 65 passes for 1,369 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior.
OL: Brad North, 6-2.5, 285, Allen (Texas)
Breakdown: Sturdy guard prospect was a brick wall in pass-pro 1-on-1s to earn OL MVP honors. Was all-district as a junior and still waiting for first offer.
OL: Maurice Porter, 6-5, 285, Marshall (Missouri City, Texas)
Breakdown: Big tackle didn't stand out much until 1-on-1s, when he came alive and more than held his own, showing a good punch. Baylor, West Virginia, Colorado and Houston have offered.
OL: Jake Raulerson, 6-4.5, 249, Celina (Texas)
Breakdown: Texas-bound tackle narrowly missed out on OL MVP for second straight year; was only OL to slow down Torrodney Prevot.
DEFENSE
DL: Christian LaCouture, 6-5, 260, A&M Consolidated (College Station, Texas)
Breakdown: Possesses a great combination of size and athletic ability. Delivered a spin move during pass rush 1-on-1s that should be illegal for a player his size.
DL: Scott Pagano, 6-3.5, 281, Moanalua (Honolulu)
Breakdown: Has a great first step and is built like a tank. Great competitor who is rapidly approaching 20 offers.
DL: A'Shawn Robinson, 6-5, 316, Arlington Heights (Fort Worth, Texas)
Breakdown: An absolute man-child and hard to imagine there is a more physically imposing prospect in the Class of 2013. Texas commit could end up on either side of line but prefers defense.
DL: Hardreck Walker, 6-1.5, 273, Westfield (Houston)
Breakdown: A stout, physical defensive tackle prospect with an impressive first step for his size. Uses leverage well.
LB: Deon Hollins, 6-0, 220, Marshall (Missouri City, Texas)
Breakdown: Excelled in pass rush drills as one would expect from UCLA commit, who plays DE for Marshall. But he also looked great in space.
LB: Mike Mitchell, 6-3.5, 211, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas)
Breakdown: Small-school talent has big-time upside. Great frame with athletic ability and is also very coachable. USC, Ohio State and Oklahoma are among his early offers.
DB: Tony Brown ('14), 5-11.5, 176, Ozen (Beaumont, Texas)
Breakdown: Underclassman stood out in deep group of DBs. Has terrific speed and feet and should be among the nation's top safeties in next year's class. LSU has offered.
DB: Anthony Canady, 5-8.5, 165, Mesquite (Texas)
Breakdown: Perhaps no player helped their stock more on Sunday than Canady, who was an all-district pick last fall but is still waiting for his first offer.
DB: Laurence Jones ('14), 6-1.5, 208, Neville (Monroe, La.)
Breakdown: A jumbo-sized safety already and only heading into his junior season, Jones has outstanding change-of-direction ability for his size.
DB: Maurice Smith, 5-11.5, 178, Dulles (Sugar Land, Texas)
Breakdown: May have answered some questions of whether he's a corner or safety. He showed great feet and hips throughout and earned an invite to The Opening.
ATH: John Diarse, 5-11.5, 213, Neville (Monroe, La.)
Breakdown: This LSU commit played mostly safety in camp and showed well. Primarily a QB and free safety at Neville, his future college position could very well end up being outside linebacker.
