The Jaguars are expected to sign former Packers cornerback Davon House to a four-year deal worth approximately $25 million when free agency begins Tuesday, a source confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.
The Packers also offered a deal to House, although it was for significantly less money than Jacksonville offered, a source told ESPN.
The deal was reported earlier Tuesday by the NFL Network.
House, 25, was a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 2011. He played in 13 games with four starts in 2014 but missed the final three regular-season games because of a shoulder injury.
Injuries have slowed House during his career. He had a shoulder injury in the 2012 preseason, when he appeared to be on track for a full-time starting job.
House still is viewed as a promising prospect because of his size (6-foot-0, 195 pounds) and ability to play the ball. He finished fourth on the Packers with 11 pass breakups last season despite playing only 33 percent of the defensive snaps.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley likes bigger, physical cornerbacks, and House fits that profile. House has broken up 10 passes in each of the last two seasons, and Bradley said last season that while he felt the corners had good coverage, they weren't competing hard enough on throws. They broke up 17 passes, but only one player had more than three.
Demetrius McCray, a 2013 seventh-round draft pick, developed into a solid starter last season (47 tackles) but broke up just three passes. Dwayne Gratz, a third-round pick in 2013, got benched early in the season but ended up back in the starting lineup after Alan Ball went on injured reserve with a biceps injury. Gratz led the team with nine pass breakups.
The wild card is second-year player Aaron Colvin, who didn't get on the field as a rookie until November because he was recovering from a torn ACL suffered during Senior Bowl practices. He had 25 tackles, two pass breakups and a fumble return for a touchdown in six games.
