Packers re-sign OLB Nick Perry

The Packers have re-signed outside linebacker Nick Perry.

The deal is for five years at $60 million with an $18.5 million signing bonus, a source told ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

"We very excited to have Nick remain a Packer. I've enjoyed watching his development as a player and leader over the last five seasons," head coach Mike McCarthy said in a release announcing the deal. "Nick is a core member of our team and he will be an important part of our success moving forward."

After declining the fifth-year option on the former first-round pick, the Packers re-signed Perry to a one-year, $5 million "prove-it" type of contract last offseason.

Perry, 26, responded with easily the best season of his career, finishing with a team-high 12 sacks (including playoffs), despite missing two games with a broken hand.

In five seasons, he has 30.5 sacks in 68 games, including the playoffs.

The 28th overall pick in the 2012 draft had been dogged by injuries during the early part of his career, playing in only 17 of a possible 32 games during his first two seasons. He has missed only five games over the past three seasons.
