Vikings sign veteran DE Brian Robison to one-year extension

The Minnesota Vikings have signed defensive end Brian Robison to a one-year extension through 2018, according to a league source.

He now will be paid a base salary of $7.5 million for the next two years, with $5.15 million guaranteed.

Robison, 33, was previously scheduled to make up to $5.6 million for 2017, none of which was guaranteed. With the extension, his base salary drops from $5.3 million to $3.9 million (fully guaranteed), while he still has $100,000 available via a workout bonus (but his $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses for 2017 has been removed).

With the extension agreement, Robison trades a base salary pay cut of $1.4 million in total for 2017 for an extra year on his deal. In 2018, he has a base salary of $3.2 million, $1.25 million of which is guaranteed, plus $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $100,000 via a workout bonus.

Robison, who has played all 10 seasons in his career with the Vikings, had 7.5 sacks in 2016. He has 56 sacks in his career.
