North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance, No. 13 on Mel Kiper's Big Board, threw for 30 NFL teams in attendance for the Bison's pro day Friday. Lance completed 58 of his 66 attempts during the workout but didn't participate in the other drills.
In North Dakota State's only game of the fall, Lance completed 15 of 30 passes for two touchdowns and one interception, as well as 143 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, in a 39-28 victory over Central Arkansas on Oct. 3.
Lance announced on Oct. 6 that he would be foregoing North Dakota State's spring season to enter the 2021 NFL draft.
In his first season as a starter at North Dakota State in 2019, Lance was named the most outstanding player in the Bison's 28-20 victory against James Madison in the FCS national championship game, securing a 16-0 season. It was the first such 16-0 season in college football since 1894.
During that 2019 season, Lance didn't throw an interception in 287 attempts, setting the NCAA all-division record for passing attempts in a season without an interception.
Lance ended his college career with just 17 total starts. Since the 2006 NFL draft, according to ESPN Stats & Information research, six quarterbacks have been taken in the first round with fewer than 20 college starts: Mitchell Trubisky (13), Cam Newton (14), Dwayne Haskins (14), Mark Sanchez (16), Kyler Murray (17) and Ryan Tannehill (19).
In Kiper's latest mock draft, he has Lance going No. 9 to the New England Patriots via mock trade with the Denver Broncos.
