DETROIT -- The Buffalo Bills' offense didn't start the second half on a great note with quarterback Josh Allen throwing his fourth red zone interception of the season, but the defense quickly put points on the board with defensive tackle Ed Oliver sacking Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff in the end zone. On third-and-15 from the Lions' 3-yard line, Goff stepped back, but the pocket quickly closed with the Bills gaining pressure. Oliver pushed tackle Dan Skipper into Goff and then reached out to make the tackle. The safety gave the Bills a 19-14 lead. It was the first safety allowed by the Lions since Week 17 of 2014 against the Green Bay Packers. Oliver had a big day for the Bills. In addition to the safety, he had five tackles, two quarterback hits, two tackles for loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Earlier, the Bills responded to an early Lions' touchdown with a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Allen to wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie in the end zone. With pressure moving toward Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs covered by two defenders, the quarterback remained in the pocket and connected with McKenzie as he sped into the end zone at a max speed of 19.3 mph. It was McKenzie's first touchdown since Week 4. The score came on third-and-6, which was a positive sign for the Bills. Allen came into the day 2-of-12 on third-down red zone passes, one touchdown and one interception, worst of any quarterback with at least 10 attempts.
