Luther Burrell will have to wait until Monday to find out if his performance in England's win over Wales was enough to force his way into the squad for the Australia tour.
Burrell was left out of the original 32-man squad and was named in the Saxons party for their two-match series against South Africa A. But Manu Tuilagi's hamstring injury opened the door for either Burrell or Ollie Devoto to force their way into the party for Australia.
Both featured against Wales. Debutant Devoto played the last four minutes and his versatility across fly-half and the centres is an attraction for Eddie Jones but Burrell, who has 13 caps, impressed at Twickenham and scored England's first try in their 27-13 triumph.
England leave for Australia on Tuesday and Jones will inform Burrell or Devoto whether they are travelling Down Under on Monday.
"He [Jones] hasn't told me yet," Burrell said of whether he has heard if he is on the plane to Australia. "What happens after the game is the coaches go back, they watch it and review it and all I can do is sit tight and keep my phone close to me. If it's not for me, then I'll go to South Africa and I'll put the work in and hopefully I can have a successful tour over there.
"I've done all I can. I trained in Brighton, I trained this week and played 80 minutes today. It's in their hands now, either way South Africa or Australia I'll be privileged to go on either tour."
Of Tuilagi, Burrell added: "He's a great player, a good mate, we keep in contact and it is unfortunate. It does open a door for someone else, if that someone else is me then great but if not then I'll keep working."
