South Africa's Sevens team will be boosted by the return of one of their most experienced players, Chris Dry, who has declared himself fit for the start of the 2018-19 World Rugby Sevens Series.
Dry, who missed eight out of 10 tournaments last season due to a knee injury, is raring to go as the Blitzboks begin preparations for an attempt at a World Sevens Series three-peat.
"I am ready and fit right now and will be pushing the rest of the guys really hard to get back into that starting team. I really missed working with these guys and I am delighted to be back in the groove with them," Dry told sarugbymag.co.za. The 30-year-old, who has played in 64 tournaments for his country, is aware of the challenge that lies ahead, and is not letting the opportunity to overtake Frankie Horne's South African record of 68 tournament appearances distract from the task at hand.
"For me it is all about getting back into the team and contributing," he added.
"It is going to be a huge couple of months for us before the series starts again and we will be pushed hard. All of us are looking forward to the season and we are pretty excited, although we know there will be some pain coming our way.
