Chicago Sky's Sydney Colson tests positive for coronavirus

Chicago Sky guard Sydney Colson said on Twitter on Saturday that she has tested positive for coronavirus.

"I do the least and tested positive so I'm tryna see how folks who do the mooost are out here partying and feelin grand," Colson tweeted.

In April, Colson's Sky teammate, Stefanie Dolson, said that she and members of her family had coronavirus while they were all in upstate New York. Dolson wrote an essay about it in The Players' Tribune in May, saying she, her parents and a brother all got sick but recovered. Dolson played in China over the winter.

Colson, 30, signed with the Sky as a free agent in February. A second-round draft pick out of Texas A&M in 2011, Colson played in the WNBA her rookie season, but was out of the league from 2012-14. During that time, though, she played overseas, and returned to the WNBA with San Antonio from 2015-17. She played briefly with Minnesota in 2018, and then spent all last season with Las Vegas.

Colson, a native of Houston, was a starter on Texas A&M's national championship team in 2011.

The WNBA plans to start a 22-game season in late July at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. According to the most recent protocol, WNBA players must be tested three times before going to IMG on the scheduled arrival date of July 6.

Players who test positive will not be allowed to come to the site until after self-quarantining under current Centers for Disease Control guidelines. Then they would have to have two more negative tests before they would be allowed to come to IMG.
