Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson re-signs; deal for two years, source says

The Las Vegas Aces have re-signed 2020 WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson, a restricted free-agent forward, the team announced Wednesday.

Terms of the contract were not revealed, but a source confirmed to ESPN that Wilson's deal is for two years, with the first season worth $196,267 and the second worth $202,155. Winsidr was first to report the terms.

"A'ja is a generational talent both on and off the court, and I'm excited to have her back in the fold with the Aces," new Las Vegas coach Becky Hammon said in a statement. "She has been the leader of this team, and an integral part of the Las Vegas community since the day she was drafted, and I know our fans are ecstatic to once again have her at the forefront of our pursuit of a WNBA championship."

A former South Carolina star, Wilson was the No. 1 pick in the 2018 WNBA draft and was part of the United States' gold-medal winning team this past summer.

Wilson was rookie of the year in 2018 and has averaged 19.0 points, 8.1, rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks for her four-year career. She led the Aces to the WNBA Finals in her MVP season of 2020.

"Aces fans have embraced me and this team since the day I was drafted, and the city has really become a second home for me," said Wilson, who is from Columbia, South Carolina. "I'm looking forward to working with Coach Hammon, and excited about the future of our franchise heading into 2022."
