The ramifications from the stunning Rob Gronkowski trade on Tuesday traveled beyond the NFL.

Gronkowski, dealt from the New England Patriots to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a trade that reunites the previously retired tight end with Tom Brady, won World Wrestling Entertainment's 24/7 title earlier this month at WrestleMania 36 in Florida.

On Tuesday, WWE issued a statement to ESPN: "Congratulations to Rob Gronkowski, the current WWE 24/7 Champion, on his return to football. Per the rules of the 24/7 title, Gronk must defend his championship at all times in any location. He could be celebrating a touchdown pass from #TomBrady...anytime, anywhere."

Serving as host of the taped, two-night, studio event that concluded April 5, Gronkowski was crowned champion after he jumped off a balcony in between matches and landed on a group of wrestlers, including the 24/7 champion -- and his friend -- Mojo Rawley. Gronkowski got up off the pack, pinned Rawley and became the latest WWE titleholder.
