AFL preliminary finals: Teams, results, tips, odds - everything you need to know

The top four teams have made the final four, making for two incredible preliminary final match-ups... Here's everything you need to know ahead of the AFL prelims.

Friday, October 16

Port Adelaide vs. Richmond, Adelaide Oval, 7:50pm (AEDT)

Team news: Both sides will go into this crunch clash unchanged. Power youngster Todd Marshall injured his shoulder in Port's qualifying final against Geelong but has proven his fitness. The unchanged line-up for the Tigers means Marbior Chol and Josh Caddy will miss yet again.

Prediction: Can you tip against the side which led the league from Round 1 until the end of the season? Even if the side they're up against has won two of the last three flags? This should be a cracking contest, and Port have shown they know how to beat the Tigers having done so earlier this year. Back them in.

Score: Tigers 6.10 (46) def. Power 6.4 (40)

Saturday, October 17

Brisbane vs. Geelong, Gabba, 7:40pm (AEST)

Team news: The Cats may well go into this clash unchanged, but the Lions have had the better part of two weeks to contemplate their best 22. Could Noah Answerth get a call up?

Prediction: The pressure is well and truly on the Lions given if they win, they're into a home Grand Final - a literally once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Cats were also a team possessed last week, so could they cause what the bookies would say is a boilover? They're great value at $2.10.

Tip: Geelong by 1 point.

Score: Lions 6.6 (42) def. by Cats 11.16 (82)
