Kyle Allen brought it back with a 53-yard touchdown pass to second-year receiver Curtis Samuel to give the Panthers a 30-0 third-quarter lead over the New Orleans Saints.
It was Carolina's longest touchdown pass of the season -- it was thrown 50 yards downfield, per ESPN Stats & Information. Newton completed only nine passes of 20-plus yards this season before being shut down for the final two games. Also, Newton was 0-of-11 this season on throws of at least 30 air yards.
