CLEVELAND -- Monday night, Christian Kirksey and 11 other Cleveland Browns players knelt and prayed during the national anthem before a preseason game.

Tuesday night on the players' day off, Kirksey and eight other teammates -- including at least two who knelt with him before the game -- took part in a charity bowling outing.

Kirksey and Danny Shelton are the two sponsors for the third annual Strikes for Kids Cleveland Bowling Classic.

Shelton, a noted dog lover, will donate money he raises to a local animal protective agency, and Kirksey will provide backpacks filled with school supplies to up to 75 needy students.

Among players taking part were at least two others who knelt and prayed during the anthem -- linebacker Jamie Collins Sr. and running back Duke Johnson Jr. Other who bowled included safety Derrick Kindred, defensive ends Nate Orchard and Emmanuel Ogbah and linebacker Cam Johnson.

This is the third year that Kirksey has hosted or co-hosted the event.
