INDIANAPOLIS -- How does pairing a healthy, MVP-caliber quarterback in Andrew Luck with a three-time, 1,200-yard rusher in Le'Veon Bell sound?
Bell likes that idea.
Bell, who will miss the entire 2018 season in a contract dispute with the Pittsburgh Steelers, mentioned the possibility of playing with Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in an Instagram post by the NFL on Monday.
Bell wrote "just imagine" followed by several emoji eyes in the comment section of a post about Luck having eight straight games with at least three touchdown passes during his remarkable comeback season.
Bell has not held back any punches in saying he wants to earn top dollars in his next contract. The Colts will be able to afford Bell in the offseason because they'll have an NFL high of about $123 million in salary-cap space to sign free agents.
But it's not that simple for the Colts or Bell.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Nov. 18 that there could be a battle between the NFL's management council and the NFL Players Association over the value of the transition tag, which could play a part in deciding Bell's future.
Also, Colts general manager Chris Ballard has been steadfast in building his roster through the draft. The Colts' top three running backs -- Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins -- are all second-year players or rookies who were hand-picked by Ballard. The Colts are currently 18th in the NFL in rushing yards at 112.9 yards a game.
