49ers secondary seems to be getting healthier

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers' banged-up secondary appears to be making progress toward returning to full strength.

Niners cornerbacks Jimmie Ward (quadricep) and Will Redmond (knee) and safety Jaquiski Tartt (quadricep) all participated in some capacity in Wednesday's practice.

Redmond is at the beginning of his 21-day window to return from the short-term injured reserve list, and he doesn't count on the roster and doesn't appear on the injury report. The earliest he can return from that list is in time for the Week 9 match-up against the New Orleans Saints.

Ward has been out since the Week 3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks while Tartt is aiming to return after missing last week's game against Buffalo. Ward said after participating fully in Wednesday's practice that he was certain he would be able to play this week against Tampa Bay.

Here's the full injury report from Wednesday:

Did not participate -- RB Carlos Hyde (shoulder), CB Rashard Robinson (concussion).

Limited participation -- G Joshua Garnett (foot), S Jaquiski Tartt (quadricep).

Full participation -- DT Arik Armstead (shoulder), G Zane Beadles (ankle), DT DeForest Buckner (foot), DT Quinton Dial (knee), DT Glenn Dorsey (knee), WR Jeremy Kerley (ankle), TE Vance McDonald (hip), CB Jimmie Ward (quadricep).
