Amir Khan vs. Samuel Vargas: What time does it start? And how can I watch?

Amir Khan fights Samuel Vargas on Saturday night in the latest step of the British fighter's boxing comeback. The former welterweight world champion made his return to the ring earlier this year in a 39-second win over Phil Lo Greco -- almost a year-and-a-half since his knockout defeat to Canelo Alvarez.

Victory in Birmingham would see Khan, 31, return to the big time, with a potentially huge clash in a U.K. arena on the horizon for later in the year. First though, Khan must overcome his Colombian opponent but when does the fight start, where is it on TV and who else is on the card? Here's everything you need to know.

What time does it start and how can I watch?

The fight will be shown live on Sky Sports Action, starting with the undercard from 7 p.m. Khan-Vargas will be the last fight of the night and will likely take place after 9 p.m.

In the U.S., streaming service DAZN will show Khan-Vargas for free on their social media channels.

What will it mean for Khan if he wins?

Khan has his sights firmly set on an end of year showdown against either Kell Brook or Manny Pacquiao. A convincing win over Vargas would make this a realistic possibility. Brook is on the comeback trail as well and the pair of English fighters are rivals, but Khan sees Pacquiao as the priority. The men were apparently close to agreeing a fight last year.

"The next fight [after Vargas] has to be big," Khan told ESPN's Nick Parkinson. "Hopefully I get a good win against Vargas, a spectacular win, then hopefully some big fight at the end of the year, Brook, Pacquiao or whoever."

Who else is on the card?

There's plenty of local, British talent on the undercard at Arena Birmingham. Tommy Langford and Jason Wellborn face off for the British middleweight championship before undefeated super-welterweight Scott Fitzgerald takes on Craig Morris. Sam Eggington is also in action, fighting Hassan Mwakinyo.

Pre-fight talk

"I know that I'm going to hurt him [Vargas] in this fight, and I'm going to put on a good performance, and I'm going to outclass him." Khan said to Sky Sports following Thursday's press conference.

Vargas said: "I just have to land one punch on his chin, left or right hand. His feet will go all over the place and if he's still there, I'll hit him again and again."

Bunce's view

"Khan and new trainer Joe Goosen seem to have found a great bond," Steve Bunce told ESPN. "If they can get past tough-guy Samuel Vargas in Birmingham they will secure another world title fight.

"If he stops Vargas, it's a good result. If he beats him handily on points, that's tasty as well. But he has to get past Vargas to even continue dreaming about either Pacquiao or a Great British showdown with Kell Brook."
