Louisville continued its successful spring of recruiting, landing five-star small forward V.J. King.
King, ranked No. 25 in the ESPN 100 for the 2016 class, chose the Cardinals over Connecticut, Virginia and Kentucky.
The 6-foot-7 small forward transferred last summer to Paul VI (Va.) from St. Vincent-St. Mary (Ohio), LeBron James' high school. King played his AAU ball for Team Takeover, the program in which Louisville assistant Kenny Johnson used to coach. King is averaging 14.2 points and 5.2 rebounds on the Nike EYBL circuit so far this season.
Louisville was one of the big winners of the spring transfer period, landing immediately-eligible graduate transfers Damion Lee (Drexel) and Trey Lewis (Cleveland State). King will be a replacement for Lee on the wing for the 2016-17 season.
King is the first 2016 commitment for the Cardinals. Rick Pitino and his staff are still on the hunt for another wing and a point guard, with Markelle Fultz (No. 21) and Alterique Gilbert (No. 23) the primary targets.
