Wiggins digs UF visit

ATHENS, Ga. -- When Georgia's top-rated commitment recently took a trip to visit the Florida Gators, Bulldog Nation -- as well as the Bulldogs' coach staff -- simply freaked out. Cornerback Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) is not only Georgia's best recruiter, he is the glue of the 2013 class. With two recent decommitments, the idea of losing Wiggins to the hated Gators had Mark Richt and company sweating bullets.

"They went crazy," Wiggins said. "Coach Richt called me and I talked to Coach [Rodney] Garner, Coach [Scott] Lakatos and Coach [Mike] Bobo. They asked me if I was all right and stuff like that. They sent me all these paragraphs on Facebook telling me how much they need me and about how much of a leader I am in this class -- just telling me how important I am to them and how they don't have a lot of cornerbacks. It was crazy. I mean they kind of treated me -- not different, but a little more special when I was up there Saturday. I guess with me being committed they figured I was already in the bag."

The staff had reason to worry, as the Florida staff made a big impression on the Under Armour All-American.
