Ferrari must wait until 2016 to address weaknesses - Kimi Raikkonen

Kimi Raikkonen says Ferrari will have to wait until the winter break to address many of the problems with its car, but is confident the team will be more competitive in 2016.

Ferrari has moved from fourth in the constructors' championship at the end of 2014 to a solid second place this year with five races remaining, but the car is still off the pace of championship-leaders Mercedes at most circuits, especially high-speed tracks. However, Raikkonen says his team knows the weaknesses of its car and will be able to rework the car ahead of the start of next season

"For our car right now, how it fits us, we know when it's going to be more tricky," Raikkonen said. "But we have surprised ourselves - we expected Monza to be a bit more difficult for us and we were quite good there; Suzuka wasn't too bad even though it shouldn't be one of our favourite places.

"It shows that we're doing the right things and improving things so we'll keep working on those things and we know where the weaknesses are. But there's a limit to the things that we can do at this time of the year and obviously I'm sure we'll keep improving little by little and for next year we'll be in a better shape."

Raikkonen is confident Ferrari is going in the right direction.

"Like I said there is still work to be done but we're doing the right things, going the right direction so little by little we're progressing. I'm sure there are some circuits that are a little difficult, some that are a bit better for us, but it's part of the whole thing to improving on all the things."
