As fantasy baseball's Week 8 dawns, one-quarter of the 2024 fantasy baseball season will be in the books -- assuming there aren't three or more rainouts that push games into the latter stages of the season. Standings are beginning to take shape, and managers should already be looking for ways to improve roster weaknesses.
Week 8 sees all 30 teams scheduled for at least six games, with 10 of them scheduled to play on all seven days. Additionally, among the three teams who call the most hitter-friendly ballparks their homes, only the Boston Red Sox (who host the Tampa Bay Rays for four week-opening games at Fenway Park) will play a series at home.
It's therefore one of the most "quality over quantity" weeks we've seen for matchups.
In an interesting twist featuring top pitching prospect Paul Skenes, the Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander who made his big-league debut on Saturday, is lined up to face the Chicago Cubs in each of his first two starts. After having faced them at Pittsburgh's PNC Park in his debut, he's scheduled for a rematch with them at Chicago's Wrigley Field on Friday.
