Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic has said his Bosnia and Herzegovina teammate Edin Dzeko "would come running" if given the opportunity to join the Giallorossi.

The Serie A club are in the market for a new forward after deciding to offload Gervinho, and Dzeko is seen as one of their main targets.

Both the fee and the player's wages have been seen as potential stumbling blocks to a deal, and Dzeko's agent has said he believes he is likely to stay at City.

But Pjanic told Roma News: "Dzeko would come running to Roma, and his salary would not be a problem because he'd adapt. But now it's all up to the club."

Roma could offer City Adem Ljajic in a bid to get to Dzeko -- but they also have alternative targets in mind of their attempts to land the Manchester City man fall through.

La Repubblica reported that they are keeping tabs on Everton's Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku, who may cost more than Dzeko but whose wages are lower.
