Leyton Orient take shock early lead vs. Man City with stunning goal (1:12)

Jamie Donley's strike from 45 yards hits the bar and bounces into the net off Manchester City keeper Stefan Ortega. (1:12)

Leyton Orient forward Jamie Donley thought he had scored one of the greatest goals in FA Cup history on Saturday, seeing his 50-yard strike hit the back of the net against Manchester City, only for it to be given as an own-goal.

Donley's effort, which put Orient into a stunning lead over City, actually struck the crossbar but found the net after hitting goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

The moment will live long in the memory of Orient fans, although the result may not, ending in a 2-1 win for City.

Manager Richie Wellens said he was sad to learn that the goal did not go to Donley, who is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

"It is a shame it has gone down as an own goal," Wellens said. "It is not deserved and I am sure Ortega doesn't want it. It is one thing seeing it, it is another executing."

Donley, meanwhile, was more focused on the scoreline than the goalscorers' list.

"I know I hit the goal well," Donley said. "I knew it fell for me nicely. I saw him off his line and luckily it went in. It would have been a lot nicer if we won but it was a good moment."
