Everton's Samuel Eto'o set for Sampdoria move - agent

Everton forward Samuel Eto'o is set to complete a move to Sampdoria despite a more lucrative offer from Brazilian club Santos, his agent has said.

The former Inter Milan star favours a return to Italy, where his family live, and is set to complete his move to Samp over the weekend, potentially making his debut in next weekend's trip to Cagliari.

His agent, Claudio Vigorelli, told the Genovese newspaper Il Secolo XIX: "He's chosen Genoa [Sampdoria's home city] and he's really motivated.

"In the last few hours, an offer arrived from Santos which was greater from a financial viewpoint, but he isn't interested in it.

"His family lives in Milan and he dreams of playing in such a passionate place like Genoa to finish his career. He's going to live in Genoa and is not going to commute between Milan and Genoa, like I've heard there being talk of him doing. He's a great professional and has done well wherever he has been."

Everton manager Roberto Martinez told a news conference on Friday that he expected a final decision on Eto'o's future within the next fortnight.

He said: "With Samuel, we're going to take a couple of weeks to decide what the next step is. I don't rule anything out at the moment.

"It could well be that Samuel stays with us. We're going to see what's best for the club and for Samuel."

Eto'o enjoyed some of his greatest success in Italy, winning the Serie A, Champions League and Coppa Italia treble with Inter Milan in 2010 before moving to Anzhi Makhachkala in 2011.

He previously won the Champions League twice with Barcelona and also won the Spanish league three times with the Blaugrana.
