Samuel Umtiti's proposed move to Barcelona is a long way from completion, according to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Aulas confirmed Barca made an approach for the 22-year-old, who they want to replace the Borussia Dortmund-bound Marc Bartra.
But reports in Spain suggesting a five-year deal had been agreed are wide of the mark and the defender is not yet leaving the club.
He told Eurosport: "Barcelona have approached us about Umtiti about 10 days ago but there are no negotiations taking place yet. Samuel is not on the verge of leaving the club."
Umtiti's agent and brother Yannick echoed Aulas' stance and insisted no transfer is being negotiated with Barcelona.
"I do not know where the information that it is already a done deal is coming from," he said. "There has not been contact with Barcelona yet. We are not negotiating about a transfer to Barcelona."
Umtiti is currently with the France squad preparing for Euro 2016 after being called up to replace injured Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu.
