United States international Jerome Kiesewetter has signed with Fortuna Dusseldorf, the German second-division club announced on Friday.
Kiesewetter, 23, previously played for Stuttgart's reserve team, making just two appearances in the Bundesliga in March 2015.
He was a free agent after Stuttgart opted not to renew his contract.

The midfielder has been a key player for the U.S. under-23 team that just missed out on qualifying for the Olympics after a loss to Colombia in February.
Kiesewetter's performances earned him a call-up to the senior national team in January, and he made his debut in a friendly against Iceland.
