Transfer Rater: Dries Mertens to Man United, Alexis Sanchez to PSG

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

Dayot Upamecano - RB Leipzig to Liverpool

Liverpool have already raided RB Leipzig, agreeing the club-record signing of Naby Keita -- who will make the move to Anfield next summer. However, Jurgen Klopp still has his eye on the Bundesliga club and is now interested in Upamecano, with reports in Bild claiming the Merseyside club will have to pay as much as €100 million to land the 18-year-old. Of course, Liverpool are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements after the failure to sign top transfer target Virgil van Dijk.

Dries Mertens - Napoli to Manchester United

Jose Mourinho spent much of the summer looking for an out-and-out winger to add another dimension to his Manchester United attack. He focused his efforts on Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic only for the player to remain at the San Siro. Now, he has turned his attention to another Serie A winger in the form of Mertens, according to Italian publication Calciomercato. The 30-year-old has been in scintillating form for Napoli over the early part of the season, scoring six goals in as many games as Maurizio Sarri's side have put down a marker at the top of the table. He also netted 28 times last season, only Roma's Edin Dzeko scored more.

Fabinho - Monaco to Juventus

He was one of the most sought-after players in Europe over the summer, but in the end Fabinho stayed at Monaco. The continent's biggest and best clubs are still thought to be circling over the midfielder, though, with Calciomercato claiming Juventus are particularly interested in the 23-year-old. The Serie A champions offered €40 million for the player in the summer, only for Monaco to ask for €60 million. Juve weren't willing to offer that much at the time, but they are expected to return for Fabinho in January, with Paris Saint-Germain also willing to spend big money to sign one of their top targets.

Jordan Jones - Kilmarnock to Fulham

Kilmarnock are struggling in the Scottish Premiership at the moment, sitting bottom of the table after six games. However, one bright spark in their season so far has been the performances of left-back Jones, with English Championship side Fulham taking note. Reports in the Scottish Sun have linked Jones with a move there as a potential replacement for the in-demand Ryan Sessegnon.

Alexis Sanchez - Arsenal to Paris Saint-Germain

It was the saga that tried to define the summer transfer window in the Premier League. As we all know, Sanchez stayed at Arsenal and will see out the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium. But Sanchez could still move in January, with Paris Saint-Germain interested in a cut-price deal for the forward. The Ligue 1 giants are reportedly preparing to sell Edinson Cavani after a bust-up with Neymar and have identified Sanchez as the man to replace him.
