Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is close to agreeing a contract extension, according to his agent.
Bellerin, 21, has been linked with Barcelona and Manchester City in recent months, but he has three years remaining on his current deal and Arsene Wenger said last month he would offer the Spain international an extension.
His agent, Albert Botines, held talks last week and has now told The Guardian: "We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign.
"Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress."
Bellerin, who broke into the Arsenal first team in 2014, has been strongly linked with Barca after the Catalan club's vice-president, Jordi Mestre, said in September that the right-back was "a great player" and had "Barca DNA."
However, Bellerin, who left Barca's youth setup as a 16-year-old in 2011, has said on multiple occasions that he remains committed to Arsenal.
In an interview with WD Channel last month he said he "won't pick up the phone" if Barca contact him, and he said in the London Evening Standard last week: "If I wanted to play there I would have stayed there.
"I was very happy when Arsenal showed interest in me and I decided to come here. I'm not looking back, I'm just looking to help Arsenal."
He added: "It's nice for a player to know that big teams want you but I'm very happy here. I've still got three years left on my contract so I'm just focused on playing every single week, improving and hopefully making things happen here at Arsenal.
"I'm not in a rush to extend the contract. I'm happy. I'm comfortable. I want to be here a long time."
