Barcelona star Messi's son Mateo has a mean kick on him for a three-year-old

It would appear that when it comes to Lionel Messi's middle son, Mateo, the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree.

Messi's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, shared a video on Instagram of their child having a little sing-song while perched atop a football.

The three-year-old warbled his way through the theme tune to "Zorro" before demonstrating the kind of pinpoint shooting accuracy that would make his dad proud (though probably also make his mother worry for the condition of her phone).

With finishing as deadly as that, it looks like little Mateo is en route to following his old man into the family business. He's even got his own Barcelona shirt already.

While genetics must play a part, there must be something about growing up in the same house as a footballing superstar that encourages kids to begin their training early.

Just recently, we've seen Raheem Sterling proudly showing off his one-year-old son's impeccable kicking technique and equally impressive goal celebration.

At the other end of the pitch, Rio Ferdinand has been training his young son Lorenz to become the new David De Gea in his backyard while also getting to live out his own fantasies of being a striker.

Maybe we'll see the three of them playing on the same team for the inaugural season of the European Super League in 2034?
