Sebastian Coates has left Sunderland after agreeing a permanent switch to Sporting Lisbon.
Uruguayan defender Coates has been on loan in Portugal for more than a year and Lisbon have decided to take advantage of their option to make the deal a permanent one.
Coates, 26, made 32 appearances for Sunderland in his two spells spread over three years.
He signed until 2022 and Sporting said he now has a release clause of €45 million.
Meanwhile, winger Gelson Martins, who has been linked to Barcelona and Real Madrid, also extended his contract by a year until 2022.
The 21-year-old's release clause is €60 million.
