Israeli striker Eran Zahavi has signed a three-year extension to his contract with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F just days ahead of the start of the new season.
Zahavi, who was the league's top scorer last season with 27 goals from 30 league games, joined Guangzhou R&F in 2016 from Maccabi Tel Aviv and was linked with a possible move after his stellar performances in 2017.
"We are delighted to announce that the club has reached an agreement with Eran Zahavi regarding a three-year extension," the club said in a statement issued on Monday. "We believe he will perform even better in 2018 and help the team to a higher position."
Zahavi's goals pushed R&F, coached by former Yugoslavia international Dragan Stojkovic, to the verge of qualifying for the Asian Champions League, only for a dip in form late in the season to deny Guangzhou entry into the continental championship.
R&F kick off their Chinese Super League campaign on Friday evening when they meet defending champions and cross-city rivals Guangzhou Evergrande at Tianhe Stadium.
