Ravens' Alex Lewis carted off on stretcher after injuring neck

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Baltimore Ravens guard Alex Lewis was released from the hospital after suffering a neck injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday's 21-0 win over the Tennessee Titans, a team spokesman said.

Lewis was cleared to rejoin the team about an hour after the game and fly back on the Ravens' charter after undergoing a CT scan. He will receive further testing in Baltimore.

"So far, so good," Harbaugh said. "There is a lot of optimism."

Lewis, a second-year starter, was carted off the field in a stretcher with 13 minutes, 58 seconds left in the game. He was able to move all of his extremities before being placed in the ambulance.

Lewis was injured when he collided with a Titans defender, causing his head to snap back. After standing still for a few seconds, Lewis fell to the ground.

The Ravens medical staff looked at Lewis for several minutes before putting him on a stretcher. His teammates took a knee while Lewis was on the ground and then came over to see him when he was placed on the cart. Lewis lifted his left hand while being carted off the field.

The Ravens held a team prayer in the locker room after the game.

With Lewis out, the Ravens replaced him with rookie sixth-round pick Bradley Bozeman.

A fourth-round pick in the 2016 draft, Lewis missed all of last year with a shoulder injury he sustained in training camp.

"It's always tough," quarterback Joe Flacco said. "It's part of this game. I've said it before, that's what makes this game a little bit different. I hope he's OK."
