The Minnesota Wild and forward Frederick Gaudreau agreed to a five-year, $10.5 million contract through the 2027-28 season, the team announced Thursday night.
Gaudreau, 29, was set to become a free agent following the season.
The news was released during the Wild's regular-season finale at the Nashville Predators, a 4-3 loss during which Gaudreau scored twice. His second goal gave him his 100th career NHL point.
"It's great, just the thought of playing hockey for five more years in this environment with this organization, those teammates, the staff, everybody, really the whole organization," Gaudreau said. "I feel very, very grateful."
Gaudreau finished the regular season with a career-high 19 goals as well as 19 assists. He played in every game for Minnesota in 2022-23 (the only player to do so), his second season with the club.
In parts of six seasons with the Predators (2016-19), Pittsburgh Penguins (2020-21) and Wild, Gaudreau has 38 goals and 62 assists.
Gaudreau also leads the NHL in shootout goals this season with eight.
