Kameron McGusty to play for Sooners

ESPN 100 prospect Kameron McGusty, a 6-foot-5 guard from Seven Lakes High School in Texas, committed to Oklahoma on Monday.

McGusty revealed his decision on Twitter:

McGusty is ranked No. 40 in the Class of 2016. After a strong spring period, he had a long list of schools, including Florida, Texas, Indiana, Louisville and many others.

Oklahoma went into the spring and summer knowing it needed a shooting guard to replace rising senior Buddy Hield -- and the Sooners zeroed in on McGusty as their prime target. They brought him on campus last month, and the early work paid off.

McGusty joins fellow ESPN 100 prospect Kristian Doolittle in Oklahoma's 2016 class. The Sooners also had a pledge from ESPN 100 point guard Payton Pritchard, but he decommitted shortly before the July recruiting period began. Moving forward, expect Lon Kruger and his staff to prioritize big men -- including ones of the junior college variety -- as well as a point guard if Pritchard doesn't recommit.
