ARU scrap 'Ocker' haka

The Australian Rugby Union has scrapped plans for a mock haka before Saturday's Test between the Wallabies and All Blacks at Stadium Australia after New Zealanders said it was disrespectful.

The "Ocker", written by a Sydney radio station and including the names of Wallaby players in the lyrics, was to be chanted before the Test.

All Blacks coach Wayne Smith said the stunt was disrespectful to the Maori people.

ARU chief executive John O'Neill said directors of the New Zealand Rugby Union had approved the chant. But he stressed the union nor the Triple M radio station had intended to offend or be disrespectful.
