Queensland Reds hooker Tom Murphy has retired from rugby union because of a neck injury.
The 30-year-old, who was the Reds' first-choice hooker last season, has decided against risking long-term damage after consulting the Queensland team doctor, a neurologist and a spinal surgeon.
"The doctors made it pretty clear that I was risking long-term damage if I played on," Murphy told AAP.
