Orrell have announced the signing of former England hooker Neil McCarthy from Bristol Shoguns.
McCarthy, capped three times as a replacement in 1999 and 2000, becomes the latest player to leave Bristol following their relegation from the Zurich Premiership last month.
Orrell have further strengthened their squad for a serious tilt at the National League One title next season by also recruiting utility back Rodd Penney from New Zealand side North Harbour, Birmingham/Solihull pair Gavin Cattle and Leigh Hinton.
David Slemen, meanwhile, has rejoined Orrell from Harlequins.
