All Blacks vs. British & Irish Lions: How the hosts rated in second Test

Lions level series against 14-man All Blacks (0:45)

Tom May looks at the keys to the Lions' surprise win in the second test against New Zealand. (0:45)

New Zealand were forced to play with 14 men for 55 minutes as they lost the second Test 24-21 against the British & Irish Lions.

Here is how those in black rated in Wellington. Sonny Bill Williams fans might want to look away.

Israel Dagg 7/10

Did some fine mopping up at the back and fielded a couple of kick-offs, too. A wonderful replacement to have for Ben Smith. Missed tackle on Taulupe Faletau his only real blemish.

Waisake Naholo 7

Used nicely as a battering ram at Johnny Sexton from set-piece. Always found gainline, though did spill one high ball.

Anton Lienert-Brown 5

Did his job in defence but never saw any ball.

Sonny Bill Williams 1

Red card unforgivable in a Test like that. Can have no arguments about an early shower for what was a shoulder charge straight out of his NRL textbook.

Rieko Ioane 6

Barely touched the ball inside the first 40, although he almost spilled one on his own line just on halftime. Tried to get into the action after the break.

Beauden Barrett 6

Did his best in the tricky conditions but didn't have his best night from the kicking tee which proved the difference. Otherwise mixed his game up well.

Aaron Smith 7

Box kicking was on point throughout, exits included, and didn't throw a bad pass all night.

Joe Moody 5

Scrum was solid before Williams reshuffle but otherwise made little impact.

Codie Taylor 6.5

Lost first lineout but his work in the loose was excellent. Enjoyed a few solid runs and looked increasingly dangerous late on.

Owen Franks 5

Had the better of Vunipola at scrum time, won a key penalty that put first points on the board. That was about it though.

Brodie Retallick 6.5

Didn't have the impact of last week and was responsible for a couple of penalties. But did still carry for an All Blacks forward-high 14 metres.

Sam Whitelock 6

A workmanlike effort in defence but couldn't get into the game on the carry.

Jerome Kaino 5

Never got a chance after he was forced off in Williams reshuffle. Enjoyed one decent run beforehand.

Sam Cane 6

Had more of a mixed night at breakdown as the Lions upped their physicality from last week. Didn't get through the same amount of work, either.

Kieran Read 6.5

Didn't enjoy anywhere near the freedom of last week but still managed to get himself involved. Almost followed through a Barrett grubber for a try.

Bench: 5

Ngani Laumape was introduced after Williams' dismissal, and he did carry strongly. Aaron Cruden also got hands on the ball, but no real impact.
