          Leicester Tigers announce signing of Harry Potter for next season

          Leicester Tigers have signed back Harry Potter from Super Rugby side Melbourne Rebels, the club announced on Wednesday.

          Potter, who can play in the midfield and outside-back, was born in the United Kingdom before moving to Australia as a child.

          The 22-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Rebels last year and has now decided to join the Gallagher Premiership club next season.

          "It was a whirlwind really, over about a week, before it was proposed and then I agreed to the move to Leicester," Potter said in a statement.

          "I spoke to the coaches and was really impressed with the way they intend to run the club moving forward and it didn't take much of a conversation to know Leicester Tigers is going to rise again.

          "I was so inspired by what I heard in chats with the club and what is ahead for Leicester Tigers, it was too good an opportunity to pass on.

          "It sounds like it has been a tough couple of seasons for the club but the right people are leading the way and it's clear that with hard work and commitment to the plans in place, Tigers are heading in the right direction."

          The club did not reveal the length of the player's contract but director of rugby Geordan Murphy said he was pleased with the signing.

          "Harry is a very talented young man who we are extremely excited about adding to our group here in Leicester," he said.

          "At only 22, he has a promising future ahead of him in the game and we are confident he will only continue to improve in our environment, while adding to our club.

          "He is as equally as impressive off the pitch as he is on it and in our conversations with him ahead of arriving, he's shown a willingness to want to be a part of our journey."

          Meanwhile, the club announced the signing of Australia international Blake Enever from Canberra Vikings for next season.

          The forward has made two appearances for his country with his debut coming against England at Twickenham in 2017.

          "They have given me an opportunity and I want to repay that," Enever said in a statement. "I am not coming over to just fulfil contracted duties, I will be doing everything I can to add to the club, and go above and beyond for Tigers.

          "I want to be a part of the core group that get Tigers back to where they should be and know that will only come with hard work from everybody on and off the pitch."

          Leicester were in 11th position before the season was brought to a halt due to the coronavirus pandemic in March.
