Wallabies great Toutai Kefu and his son are "recovering well" after undergoing surgery following an attempted robbery at the family home in Brisbane on Monday morning.
Kefu wash rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he sustained wounds to his back during the incident at his Coorparoo home around 3am [AEST] on Monday morning.
Kefu was taken to Brisbane's Princess Alexander Hospital where he then underwent surgery, along with his son, after the frightening attack.
But there was good news on Tuesday as Kefu's daughter, Olivia, took to Facebook to thank well wishers and update the community on the family's condition.
"Hey everyone! Just wanted to give a quick update,' Olivia Kefu's post read. "Both Josh and Dad had their surgery's yesterday and are recovering well. Madi and Mum will have their operations this morning. None of them have their phones on them.
"Thank you to everyone for all the kind messages and support, it means the absolute world to us all. Lots of love Liv, Lucia and Isaac."
The home invasion is the latest in an area familiar with such events, with concerns about the level of policing and rising instances of crime being shared on community Facebook pages.
Police have since charged one of the offenders with attempted murder after taking to of the individuals into custody later on Monday.
"Police have two males in custody following a burglary and wounding in Cooparoo this morning," a Queensland Police statement read.
"Police were called to Buena Vista Avenue at around 3am in relation to an incident.
"Early information suggested a number of males were disturbed breaking into a dwelling there and a violent altercation left four members of the house injured.
"One male was restrained and taken into custody at the scene.
"Further offenders fled in a car toward Woolloongabba.
"The four injured residents were transported to the Princess Alexander Hospital for treatment. A man in his 40s has serious injuries. Investigators urge witnesses to contact police."
Kefu played 60 Tests for the Wallabies across a glittering international career. He was a key figure in Australia's golden run between 1998 and 2002 when they lifted the Rugby World Cup, Bledisloe Cup and defeated the British & Irish Lions.
He is currently the coach of Tonga's national side.
