Ravens add another RB to practice squad in Jeremy Langford

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens signed former Chicago Bears running back Jeremy Langford to their practice squad on Monday, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Langford is the second running back added to Baltimore's practice squad in two days, after the Ravens reportedly brought in former Seattle Seahawks back Alex Collins on Sunday.

Baltimore has become a popular destination for running backs because the Ravens lack proven runners on their 53-man roster. Terrance West and Buck Allen have never produced more than 800 yards in a season, and Danny Woodhead is more of a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

Langford, 25, was the Bears' fourth-round pick in 2015 and made an immediate impact as a rookie. He totaled 537 yards rushing and six touchdowns as the primary backup to Matt Forte. His greatest feat was becoming one of three players in Bears history with 100 receiving yards, one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown in a game.

Langford was the Bears' starter for the first three weeks of the 2016 season before suffering an ankle injury. He missed four weeks, and when he returned, had lost the starting job to Jordan Howard, who who rushed for 1,313 yards -- the second-highest total in the league.

After undergoing ankle surgery, Langford missed the entire offseason and reinjured the ankle at the beginning of training camp. He came back for the final two games of the preseason, managing 29 yards on 10 carries.

Langford became available as the result of a roster move by Baltimore. The Bears released Langford on Sunday after they claimed Taquan Mizzell, who was waived by the Ravens.
