Ty Isaac commits to USC

After several local trips to Michigan and Notre Dame, two visits west to USC and weeks of mulling over a very important decision, running back Ty Isaac (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) ended the recruiting process Tuesday morning, committing to USC.

Isaac made the announcement over Twitter with the statement, "Committed to The University of Southern California."

"I knew I was ready to make my decision," Isaac said. "My mom and dad were cool with it and we were all in agreement with it."

It's a big get for the Trojans, literally and figuratively. The No. 68 player in the ESPN 150, Isaac stands an imposing 6-foot-2, 215 pounds and seems to fit very well into USC's pro-style offense that demands tailbacks be able to carry the load between the tackles. USC was able to overcome a huge push from Michigan in landing Isaac, and a recent trip to Southern California for Isaac and his parents went a long way in giving the tailback the comfort to make the decision to leave home.

He is the sixth commit for the Trojans class of 2013 and the fifth member of the ESPN 150. An Under Armour All-American, Isaac will be a welcome addition to a USC backfield that will be in search of someone to step into a starting role in 2013 with the departure of senior Curtis McNeal.

Isaac has been compared to former USC great Marcus Allen by those who have watched him throughout his high school career, and that is a comparison that will sit quite well with Trojans fans.

This could be the start of a big week at the tailback spot for USC, as Justin Davis (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln) is set to announce between USC, California and Washington on Thursday. Davis and Isaac have become friendly throughout the process and the thought of them playing together is a real possibility.

"We're both cool with it (2 tailbacks in one class)," Isaac said. "We welcome the competition. We're going to keep each other sharp and we'll be able to do big things in that offense."
