GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Jared Cook says he did not turn down a deal from the Green Bay Packers. Whatever happened between the two sides, they moved on after Martellus Bennett signed a three-year, $21 million contract on Friday.

The 30-year-old free agent tight end received $6.3 million guaranteed -- all in the form of a signing bonus. His $7 million average per year ranks 13th among all tight ends, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

It could turn into a one-year deal if the Packers don’t pay his $2 million roster bonuses in March 2018.

Bennett’s salary-cap charge is lowest in the first year. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Packers still have slightly more than $29 million in cap space available for this season.
