PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles' 2023 schedule was released along with the rest of the NFL slate on Thursday, May 11.

The defending NFC champs, led by the freshly extended Jalen Hurts, are currently slated to play five night games, including two "Monday Night Football" appearances: Week 11 at the Kansas City Chiefs and Week 3 at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Other highlights include a Thursday night tilt at the Vikings Week 2 for the home opener and a Sunday night game in Dallas against the rival Cowboys Week 14.

There is little give in the schedule. Philly faces the most difficult slate in the league based on opponent win percentage in 2022 (0.567) and is set to square off against several top-end quarterbacks including Patrick Mahomes, newly minted New York Jet Aaron Rodgers and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills. The Eagles' bye week falls during Week 10.

Here's what's in store for the Eagles:

Biggest takeaway

The Eagles need to get off to a strong start. Some of the easier games (on paper) come in the early going with road trips to New England and Tampa and a home game against Washington. Things heat up from there. The toughest stretch comes after the bye with a string of games against projected contenders in the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers and Cowboys.

Revenge game

One of the biggest games of the year -- a rematch of Super Bowl LVII between the Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs -- will be played on "Monday Night Football" during Week 11 at Arrowhead Stadium, where Philly will try to get a little payback after falling to the Chiefs 38-35 in the title game in February.

Bold prediction

The NFC East will be up for grabs Week 18. There hasn’t been a repeat division winner since 2004. And while the Eagles have the firepower to buck that trend, the NFC East is in the midst of a resurgence with every team finishing with a .500 record or better in 2022. Couple that with the Eagles’ difficult schedule, and it should be a photo finish.
