Mixed reviews for Seahawks rookies so far this season

Despite the Seahawks' issues at running back, fifth-rounder Alex Collins hasn't carved out a role. Joe Nicholson/USA TODAY Sports

Of the 10 players the Seattle Seahawks selected in the 2016 draft, seven are on the 53-man roster as the team goes into its final three games. Among the other three, one is on injured reserve, one is on the practice squad, and the other is no longer with the organization.

Grade: C

Best rookie: Germain Ifedi. The first-round pick has started 10 games at right guard and flashed the potential the team was excited about when it used the 31st overall pick on him in the spring. Ifedi has had ups and downs for sure, but he's shown the ability to bounce back from rough performances and play well. Ifedi is going through the normal progression of a rookie and should continue to improve. The Seahawks originally drafted him to play right tackle, and they'll have to decide if he moves to that spot going into his second season.

Most improved rookie: Nick Vannett. When the Seahawks drafted the tight end in the third round, they immediately pointed to his ability as a blocker. And that's been on display in recent weeks when Luke Willson was out. The Ohio State product should continue to rotate in as a backup tight end, providing depth down the stretch and into the postseason.

Most disappointing rookie: Alex Collins. Given the injuries the Seahawks suffered at the running back position, the fifth-round pick really had a chance to make an impact. But it hasn't happened. Collins has carried just 17 times for 42 yards and fumbled twice. He likely will be fighting for a roster spot next summer.

The jury is still out on ... C.J. Prosise: When he played, he was great. Prosise carried 30 times for 172 yards (5.7 yards per carry) and caught 17 balls for 208 yards (12.2 yards per reception). But he's dealt with three different injuries since the start of training camp and has played in only six games. If Prosise can stay healthy, he has a bright future. But he's out indefinitely this season with a shoulder injury.

Undrafted rookie check-in: The most intriguing name here is left tackle George Fant. He hadn't started a football game since the eighth grade before this season. Fant has had plenty of rough spots, but the coaches obviously like his physical tools and mental makeup. He's started the past seven games. It will be interesting to see how Fant performs down the stretch. Trevone Boykin will look to hold onto the backup quarterback job going into next season. Pope is the No. 2 running back. And wide receiver Tanner McEvoy has flashed potential on offense and special teams.
