BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Arrion Springs (San Antonio, Texas/Theodore Roosevelt) announced his commitment to Oregon at Nike's "The Opening" showcase on Tuesday.
Springs, the No. 44 prospect in the nation, chose the Ducks over Texas.
The 6-foot, 195-pound cornerback also had offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame and Oklahoma, among others. Springs now gives Oregon seven commitments in the 2014 class and two within the ESPN 300.
"I get along really well with the Oregon coaches," Springs said. "They all click, and it's fun being there. Oregon would use me all over, mainly at corner or nickel."
While Oregon ended up being his final choice, the Longhorns did make a push for Springs in the end. Springs and his mother took a visit to the Texas campus only a few days before his trip to The Opening.
The Ducks are getting a dynamic player in Springs, who ran a 4.44 40-yard dash, a 4.13 shuttle and had a 35.8-inch vertical at The Opening's SPARQ testing. Oregon is known for landing explosive playmakers, so Springs should fit right in.
His commitment will also help boost the class ranking for Oregon, as the Ducks currently sit outside of the top 30 classes in the country.
