India's Velavan Senthilkumar, Abhay Singh and Adhitya Raghavan won the gold, silver and bronze medals at the British Junior Open in the U-19 category in Sheffield, United Kingdom on Friday.
Velavan won the Drysdale Cup -- becoming only the third Indian to do so after Saurav Ghosal (2004) and Mahesh Mangaonkar (2009)-- with a 15-13, 11-2, 10-12, 11-7 win over Abhay in the final, the first all-Indian final in the tournament's history. Adhitya won the bronze medal.
Velavan had previously finished seventh at the Junior Nationals in 2011, while Adhitya was fifth in his category. Abhay had failed to qualify for the main draw.
"A lesson then for upcoming players is that working hard with dedication, discipline and devotion do pay dividends," said national coach Cyrus Poncha.
