Bobo set to sign marquee contract extension with Sydney FC

Sydney FC striker Bobo is set to sign a marquee contract extension with the A-League grand finalists by next week.

The Brazilian $1 million man has effectively sealed his future with Graham Arnold's record-breaking premiers following an impressive debut campaign featuring 15 goals -- the fourth-highest in the league.

"I hope to stay next season," Bobo said. "They've started talking, I think maybe this week or next week we finish the contract."

The Sky Blues are all too happy to lock in the 32-year-old all-time record goalscorer for Turkish outfit Besiktas, where he played alongside fellow marquee Filip Holosko.

For now, Bobo is after more silverware to add to his already-stocked cabinet.

Along with an A-League premiership, he already has a 2005 Brazilian Serie A title with Corinthians plus a Turkish Super League, four Turkish Cups and a Turkish Super Cup, all with Besiktas.

The Grand Final against Melbourne Victory beckons, though Bobo admits he's still coming to grips with the concept of a finals series.

"It's different," he said. "We've had a week for preparations so we will be ready.

"But we need to stay strong at home. We just have to win one more game to finish."

It's understood Sydney are also quietly confident of retaining Johnny Warren Medallist Milos Ninkovic, whose family are believed to be settled and enjoying life in Sydney.

The crux of the matter will be offering their biggest star a deal worthy of his sensational season, meaning the club will almost certainly have to offer him marquee wages and squeeze Holosko inside the cap.
